Product Description

When it comes to creating and ordering your custom closure, there are some things that you might want to know to help you create a piece that is perfect for you.

Before ordering your custom closure, there are quite a few options that you will need to become more familiar with to ensure that your piece is perfect for you.

1. Hair Length – Since closure pricing is determined mainly on the length of the hair, you will need to determine your preferred length so you have an idea of what the cost will be.

2. Hair Type – Hair type refers to the type of hair used (i.e. Brazilian, Indian, Malaysian, Remy, Non-Remy, Virgin etc.). Some human hair units are made with 100% Remy Human Hair.  Indian Remy has thinner strand diameters and generally has a naturally wavy pattern. If you prefer unprocessed hair, a virgin unit such as Virgin Brazilian or Virgin Indian would be the best option for you.

3. Hair Color - Custom closures can be created in naturally darker shades however you have the option of selecting lighter shades mixed, tipped, two-toned or custom color blends, since it is 100% customizable.

4. Hair Texture – The hair texture you select will determine how much maintenance your unit will require. The curlier the texture, the more maintenance and product you will require. If you prefer a gentle body wave and want to straighten it, you might reconsider if you live in high humidity areas as this will cause the hair to frizz.

5. Hair Density – Hair density refers to how thick you want your unit to be and is generally represented with a percentage. 80% - 100% tends to be a standard density however if you have much thicker or much thinner hair, you might consider adjusting those numbers so your piece looks more natural on you.  Also, if you want to add a curly texture, you might need to reduce the density unless you prefer to have more volume at the top.

6. Base Material - The material and design of the base is one of the most important options to consider as it will determine how invisible and how comfortable your piece will be. The finer the lace, the more invisible it will be. Swiss lace closures have strands of hair hand-tied to the lace which looks like a piece of netting or mesh material and can be custom ordered in colors to blend with your scalp; from light brown, brown, dark brown and transparent.  It allows your scalp to breathe and gives easieraccess to your hair beneath to clean, condition and moisturize effectively.  Most often Swiss lace closures are the most cost effective option than its silk base counterparts.

Silk base closures use a silk overlay to attach the hair and may be custom ordered in colors to blend with your scalp from light, light brown, brown, dark brown and to transparent. There are no visible knots, so the resulting parts give an extremely realistic finish as if the hair isgrowing out of your scalp directly.  Because the material is not netted as in Swiss lace closures, the braided hair beneath is not as accessible.  If you sweat excessively or have scalp issues (dandruff, seborrhea dermatitis, etc) then this may not be the best option for you.

Note: Base materials are available in different colors to help mimic the color of your own natural scalp. After all, once the hair is parted, you will not see any wefts, only the color of your base so it makes perfect sense to select a color that matches your skin tone. If you are unsure, simply part your own hair and look at the color of your scalp. Odds are, your scalp is much lighter than your natural skin.

7. Base Size – Selecting your base size will determine how big your closure will be. If you have a thin spot that you wish to cover, be sure to measure that spot to ensure that your closure will completely cover the area. The most common frontal closure base sizes that we offer that are not considered a custom order have the following measurements:  3.5X4”, 3.5x3”, 2x4” and 13x4”.  Custom order closure measurements would be as follows:  4x4” or  6X6".

Miscellaneous options - Does your custom piece give you additional options to choose from? Did you want to add silk to your base; or how about baby hair and bleached knots? Be sure to look at all of the options and select carefully as some options come standard and some do not. The last thing you want is to get your closure or custom wig and wish that you had added something else.
